Suspected assailants have attacked the home of a farmer, Malam Isiya Abdullahi, in the outskirts of Doka Maijima’a village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The gunmen abducted the farmer and killed his 25-year-old son, Suleman Isiya, during the early morning raid.
The attackers reportedly stormed the residence around 2am, wielding cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
A source said Suleman was stabbed repeatedly while trying to shield his father from the attackers.
“He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead by medical personnel,” the source said.
Troops of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers and the missing farmer.
The source added, “The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility.”
Residents of the village are living in fear following a spate of violent incidents in the area.
The Kaduna State Police Command has yet to comment on the latest attack.
