- They were said to have killed the victim during an attack at a Lagos State government-allocated property in the Agidingbi area
In Lagos State, at least seven people have been apprehended by the police over the death of one Badmus Monsur, an engineer.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Alagbon, Lagos.
They were said to have killed the victim during an attack at a Lagos State government-allocated property in the Agidingbi area.
The deceased was reportedly an employee of the Nigercat Nigeria Group of Companies.
The company’s Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, disclosed that there have been attempts by some senior law enforcement officers to meddle in the ongoing investigation and secure the release of the suspects.
Ouolale, who expressed his concern while addressing journalists in Ikeja on Monday, said some of his employees are still being held by the police.
Osuolale thanked the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the lead investigator, CSP Oyewale, for the swift arrest of the suspects. However, he warned that previous arrests in similar circumstances were compromised.
“I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the IGP and CSP Oyewale in ensuring that seven people connected to the murder of my engineer have been apprehended,” Osuolale said.
“But we are deeply concerned, as there have been instances where suspects were arrested and then released the same day, both at Alausa and FCID, while some of our staff were still being detained.”
Osuolale also alleged that the group responsible for the attack had repeatedly issued threats against him and his employees, claiming they control security agencies. According to him, over 25 armed thugs were deployed during the attack that led to Monsur’s death.
He urged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene and ensure that justice is served in the matter.
Efforts to get comments from police authorities were unsuccessful, as officials maintained that investigations are still ongoing
