The Lagos police command has adjusted the curfew for vehicular and waterway movement ahead of local government elections in the state.
The LGA election is scheduled for Saturday, July 12.
On Wednesday, the command initially announced that movement would be restricted from 3am to 3pm across the state.
The restriction was to affect all roads and waterways within the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
However, in a statement on Thursday, the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the curfew would now begin by 6am and end by 3pm.
“The Lagos state police command wishes to inform the general public of an adjustment to the previously announced restriction of vehicular and waterway movement for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, across the 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos state,” he said.
“To alleviate the problem of residents with critical medical emergencies and appointments, and those with long-standing international travel plans in and out of the country, the restriction of vehicular movement is hereby readjusted to commence at 6:00am and end at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, and not from 3am as earlier announced.
“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with and respect the new timing.”
The commissioner of police in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
He urged residents to support security efforts and report suspicious activity through the emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.
