  • The 35-year-old suspect, who has since been arrested by the police, was said to have bludgeoned her husband with a wooden object, leading to his death.

In Yobe State, one Hadiza Mamuda has allegedly killed her husband following a feisty altercation over food.

The incident happened in Garin Abba village, Fika Local Government Area of the northeast State.

The 35-year-old suspect, who has since been arrested by the police, was said to have bludgeoned her husband with a wooden object, leading to his death.

Yobe State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.

“Investigation is underway, and the suspect will be arraigned in court subsequently.

“The victim, a polygamous husband with two wives and five children, including the accused, leaves behind a grieving family,” the statement said.

The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in the statement, stressed the need for community intervention initiatives to tackle domestic violence and abuse.

He implored religious leaders to ramp up sensitisations on the dangers of physical violence in marital affairs.

“The Command remains committed to maintaining security and safety for all citizens”, he said
