Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has described the late Emir of Gusau, Dr Ibrahim Bello, as a distinguished statesman and custodian of tradition.
The emir passed away at the age of 71 in Abuja on Friday after a prolonged illness.
In a personally signed condolence message, Atiku expressed sadness over the monarch’s passing.
“I received the news of the passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, with deep sorrow,” he said.
“A distinguished statesman and a custodian of tradition, his reign was characterised by wisdom, integrity, and a strong commitment to peace and development.
“His passing is a significant loss to both Zamfara State and the nation as a whole. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Gusau Emirate, his family, and the good people of Zamfara.
“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
