- Ribadu said security forces have killed top bandit leaders across Kaduna, Zamfara and Katsina states under Tinubu’s administration.
- According to him, 11,259 abductees have been rescued from bandit camps across the North-West as of May 2025.
The national security adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has said the activities of Boko Haram insurgents, bandits and other criminal gangs in the northern region have reduced drastically under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ribadu made the statements on Tuesday during an interactive session organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna State.
He said the coordinated security approach ordered by the President has led to the killing of high-profile terrorists and a significant decline in violent attacks.
The NSA gave the names of some of the neutralised terrorists as Kachalla Boka, Dogo Isah, and Kachalla Shekau, whom he said controlled the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
“You drive from Abuja to Kaduna now because we killed those bastards: Kachalla Boka, Dogo Isah, and Kachalla Shekau were in control of those areas,” he said.
“Even last night, we drove from Abuja; it’s a statement we want to make.
“All the ministers, we stopped everyone from flying.”
Ribadu said the improved security along highways has encouraged many top government officials, including ministers, to travel by road.
He said that bandit leaders and their foot soldiers had been eliminated across Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina states.
The NSA added that as of May 2025, security forces had rescued 11,259 hostages through multiple coordinated operations across the North-West.
“We appreciate Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for initiating the non-kinetic approach in addressing insecurity in Southern Kaduna, Birnin Gwari and other troubled communities in the state.”
Ribadu noted that during the previous administration, Kaduna State alone recorded 1,192 killings and 3,348 abductions.
He added that more than 5,000 persons were killed in Benue State within the same period.
