In Katsina State, two men have been sentenced to death for the murder of a former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Rabe Nasir.

The two men, who used to be the domestic staff of the deceased, were convicted and sentenced by the Katsina State High Court 9 on Thursday.

The convicts are identified as Shamsu Lawal, a former guard of the deceased, and Tasi’u Rabi’u, who worked as a cook in Nasir’s house.

The commissioner was said to have been killed on December 8, 2021, by hired assassins in his residence located at Fatima Shema Housing Estate, Katsina State.

But court proceedings revealed that the duo had poisoned the former commissioner, leading to his death after they had failed to steal from him.

Similarly, police evidence indicated that the deceased was poisoned, as medical investigation showed poison in his body.

Meanwhile, both the prosecution and the defence counsels expressed satisfaction with the trial process and the verdict
