- Gunmen stormed Suwa and Ding’ak villages, killing three, including a pastor, and forcing residents to flee.
- The attack occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Friday, according to the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos.
Three persons, including a church pastor, have been shot dead after gunmen raided Suwa and Ding’ak villages in Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victims were identified as Pastor Gideon Katings of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Suwa, Sunday Ringkang, and Meshach Bukata.
Kefas Mallai, chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, told our correspondent that the assailants struck between 1pm and 2pm on Friday.
He said several others sustained gunshot injuries, among them one Michael Kamshak, and were receiving treatment at the Cottage Hospital in Bokkos.
According to him, the attack forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes in fear of more violence.
“Armed men invaded the two communities this afternoon and killed three people, including a pastor,” Mallai said. “Several persons were wounded and rushed to hospital for medical attention, while many have been displaced.”
Recent months have seen a resurgence of deadly assaults in Plateau communities.
Last month, 14 people were killed in an attack near Chirang village in the same council area.
The chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Forum Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, claimed that over 100 residents had been killed in Bokkos in the last two years — including more than 60 murdered on Christmas Eve in 2023.
