Professor Haruna Musa has officially assumed duty as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), following the completion of tenure by his predecessor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, the 11th VC.

Professor Musa, a distinguished scholar in Polymer Chemistry, was appointed by the University Council on July 3, 2025.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the new VC pledged to run a transparent and inclusive administration, anchored on teamwork, consultation, and dedication. He assured the university community of his determination to raise BUK’s profile to globally competitive standards.

He also commended his predecessor, Professor Abbas, for his remarkable leadership and expressed gratitude for the mentorship he enjoyed while serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

“I will build on the strong legacy left by my predecessors, who have set BUK on a progressive path,” Professor Musa said.

With his assumption of office, the institution looks forward to a new era of academic growth, innovation, and global visibility.
