Six die in Ogun road accident

At least six persons have lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.

The accident which involved a grey colour Toyota bus with registration number KJA 851 YH occurred at about 10:47 am on Friday.

Nineteen others also suffered severe injuries in the lone crash that occurred along Osuponri village near ICT Polytechnic Itori.

The vehicle was carrying 25 passengers – seven male adults, eleven female adults, two male children and five female children.

The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement, TRACE, spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen told.

He disclosed that that the driver of the vehicle and two minors were among the deceased, adding that the accident was caused by tyre burst and loss of control.

Akimbiyo states the injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Ifo, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

He said, “The vehicle contained 25 occupant, 7 male adults, 11 female adults, 2 male children and 5 female children. Nineteen sustained injures – 5 male adults, 9 female adults, 1 male and four female children.

“Number of death, 6. Two male adults, two female adults, one child and one female child. The driver of the vehicle was also among the dead victims while the motor boy was injured.”

Meanwhile, the acting Head of TRACE, Omonayajo Elias, commiserated with the families of the deceased, advising drivers to exercise caution while driving and warned against the use of fake and expired tyres because of its attendant consequences
