- The EFCC asked Nigerians defrauded by Crypto Bridge Exchange to report in Ibadan and Lagos for ongoing fraud investigations.
- The fraudulent platform lured investors with fake promises of huge returns, leaving victims in financial hardship nationwide.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has asked Nigerians who lost money to the fraudulent cryptocurrency platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), to come forward.
The anti-graft agency said victims should report at its zonal offices in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Lagos State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in Ibadan.
Oyewale disclosed that three suspects are already standing trial for alleged involvement in the crypto scam.
He identified them as Adefowora Olanipekun, Otorudo Avwerosuo, and Ehirim Chukwuebuka.
The EFCC explained that Crypto Bridge Exchange lured unsuspecting investors with promises of unrealistic returns.
The scheme, it noted, left many Nigerians counting their losses.
“In view of the foregoing and the need to assist the commission in its ongoing investigation, the EFCC is inviting victims who invested their funds through individuals linked to the CBEX offices in Ibadan and Idimu, Lagos, to report to its Ibadan Zonal Directorate and Lagos Zonal Directorate 2,” the statement read.
The commission urged members of the public to provide useful information that could aid the investigation and prosecution of the suspects.
