Hungry Armed Robbers kill security guard in Asaba just to steal 200 yam tubers

The security guard, Alex Akereh, was shot dead in the early hour of Saturday by the ramping robbers who also shot a yet-to-be unidentified keke rider.

Eyewitness, Brown Allanah who spoke to newsmen, said “the armed robbers left with 200 tubers of yam within the compound, including some electronic materials. Before killing the security guard, they tied his hands and legs and shot him in the chest, he died on the spot”.

But the police spokesman in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said, “the police are investigating the incident, and had taken the corpse to mortuary at the FMC Asaba including photograph of the deceased”.

He added that the police will intensify efforts to bring the culprits to book.
