“We were told that the driver was drinking alcohol while he was driving and swerved to the other lane to collide with the car. He ran away immediately the accident occurred. We are still looking for him.”
It was reported that five people lost their lives while several others were injured in an accident which occurred at the Agbabu junction on the Ore – Okitipupa road in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday evening.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the accident occurred at about 6.30pm.
He said, “Five people died in the accident, three females and two males. From the information we got from one of the survivors, it was the driver of the bus, simply identified as Daniel, who caused the accident as he left his lane to collide with the other vehicle coming from Okitipupa.

He said it was a case of a head-on-collision between a bus with registration number Lagos MT 138KJA and a Toyota Avensis car with registration number Ondo BDR 599 AA , adding that the two vehicles were going in the opposite direction.
However, the account from the office of the state sector command of Federal Road Safety Corps indicates that only three people died in the accident.
