And he copied his goalscoring with another fine finish to send Liverpool towards their first Premier League defeat of the season.
The Reds had quality chances to level through Mohamed Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Roberto Firmino.
But Sturridge leaped off the bench to fire in a phenomenal long range effort to earn a 1-1 draw in the 89th minute.
