Google confirms Dollar-to-Naira drop, says N184 per dollar is an error

Last night, the Nigerian currency “Naira” suddenly appreciated to an exchange rate of one dollar to 184 naira as against 360 that it has been for over three years.

Google Africa in a tweet confirmed its aware of the error saying, ‘we’re aware of an issue causing inaccurate conversions for Nigerian Naira currency, so we will remove the conversion onebox from appearing in search results until we are able to diagnose the issue’.

The issue has since been fixed and at the time of this report, according to google one dollar, is now equivalent to 361.75 naira.
