Four ‘Aboki’ in trouble after beating policeman in Ibadan

The police charged Abubakar Mohammed, 25; Salisu Usman, 20; Ajayi Ojo, 32 and Hamzat Abdullahi, 20, who all reside in Sabo, Mokola area of Ibadan, with conspiracy, assault and stealing, NAN reports.

The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Ojeleye said that the defendants committed the offence on March 22 about 7: 30pm at Sabo area in Mokola, Ibadan.

The police on Wednesday brought four men before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting a police officer during a raid.

The police charged Abubakar Mohammed, 25; Salisu Usman, 20; Ajayi Ojo, 32 and Hamzat Abdullahi, 20, who all reside in Sabo, Mokola area of Ibadan, with conspiracy, assault and stealing, NAN reports.

The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Ojeleye said that the defendants committed the offence on March 22 about 7: 30pm at Sabo area in Mokola, Ibadan.

He said the defendants allegedly conspired with others now at large, and beat up Insp Tirimisiyu Akinola, attached to the Area Command, Iyaganku, Ibadan, while performing his lawful duty and inflicted injuries on him.

Besides, Ojeleye said the defendants allegedly stole one Itel cellphone and Techno cellphone, all valued at N35,000.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of section 356 (2), 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code of Oyo state 2000.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs Mercy Amole-Ajimoti, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Amole-Ajimoti adjourned the case until April 22, for mention.
