Nigeria vs Madagascar: Gernot Rohr warned over team selection in final Group B clash

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal, has warned head coach, Gernot Rohr, not to rotate his squad against Madagascar.

Nigeria take on the debutants in their final Group B tie at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, with top place at stake.

Although Rohr’s men have won their two matches so far and conceded no goals, Lawal remains wary of Madagascar.

“I don’t think I will admonish the Eagles to field a second team against Madagascar because of the danger of being shocked by a team that have done well in the games they have played.

“I want to task the technical crew of the Eagles to ensure that they play a strong side to ensure that they finish the group as winners and also remain in Alexandria for stability ahead of their second-round game from next week.

I have watched both matches played by Madagascar and I dare to state that they won’t be run over by the Eagles. They are unbeaten after two games and have shown in both games that they can stage an upset,” Lawal told SportingLife.

Nigeria are on top of Group B with six points from two games, while Madagascar are second with four points.
