Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has hailed Nicolas Pepe as a “great player” and called for the club to sign him “quickly”.
Aubameyang stated this while speaking to reporters, following the Gunners’ victory over Angers in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.
While Arsenal fans will no doubt be delighted to get back into winning ways in pre-season after successive defeats to Real Madrid and Lyon, many were understandably distracted by the transfer saga involving Lille forward Pepe.
Arsenal are expected to unveil Pepe in the coming hours and when asked about Pepe’s move to Arsenal, Aubameyang said: “When there are great players like that who are close to signing with a great club like Arsenal… it’s very pleasant to have a player like that.
“I hope that he signs quickly and that it gets done.”
