Unknown gunmen have allegedly killed nine soldiers in Sunke village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that gunshots were fired at soldiers who were stationed in the village by gunmen who invaded the village as they rode on motorcycles on Thursday, October 3rd.

There were speculations that the killing of nine others was seen as a retaliatory attack for the killing of some repentent bandits in the state.

According to reports, “Soldiers killed some of the repentant bandits and they vowed to avenge the attacks. The repentant bandits mobilized their men and raided the army formation in the village,” a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said

However, 25 children suspected to have had links with Boko-Haram have been released to the United Nations Children’s Fund and Borno State Government by the Nigerian Army.

According to reports, the children said to be 23 boys and two girls were released after they were cleared of ties to the insurgents, bringing the total number of children released this year to 44. They were said to be between the ages of 8-15 and reportedly abducted by Boko Haram insurgents during their attacks.
