Tambuwal allocates land for proposed Nana Asma’u University in Sokoto

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has directed the state ministry of lands and housing to provide suitable land for the immediate take-off of Nana Asma’u University of Medical Sciences in Sokoto to be established by the Sultan foundation.

Tambuwal issued the directive Monday while receiving copies of books written the caliphate leaders sheikh of Othman Danfodiyo, Abdullahi Gwandu and Sultan Muhammad Bello, published by Sultan foundation and sponsored by the Sokoto state government.

The governor pledged the state government would support the actualisation of the laudable all females University project by the foundation.

He, therefore, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to encourages all efforts geared towards enhancing the works of both the past and present leaders of the caliphate.

Tambuwal on behalf of the caliphate leaders thanked the Emir of Argungu, Alh. Samaila Muhammadu Mera, for his avowed commitment to the success of the books publishing project and support alongside his loyalty to the Sultan.

He pointed out that the caliphate had its well-organised system of administration even before the coming of colonialists that is worthy of emulation in the modern time.

Earlier, Emir of Argungu who is also the chairman of the books publishing project set up by the Sultan foundation, Alh. Samaila Muhammadu Mera, who spoke on behalf of the leaders of the caliphate thanked the Sokoto state government and Governor Tambuwal for sponsoring the publishing of 92 books and prayed Allah to reward him abundantly.

He explained that under the second phase of the books publishing project, a total of one million, three hundred and eighty copies of the books were published out of which six are on grammar.

Alh Samaila Muhammadu Mera further said that under the first phase 98 books amounting to one million, six hundred and fifty copies were published and distributed free to tertiary institutions, Islamiyah schools and at the Islamic convention in the United States as well Abu Dhabi in UAE.
