Court sentences two brothers to five years imprisonment over $788 scams

Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced two Nigerian brothers to 5 years imprisonment over a $788 scam.

The convicted brothers identified as Otojareri Governor Lucky simply known as Sam Lewis and Otojareri President Mayor also known as John Jacob Carison were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

They pleaded innoncent but were found guilty of the one-count charge bordering on obtaining the sum of $788.00(USD) under false pretences.

The Statement of the EFCC reads thus;

Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, has convicted and sentenced two brothers to five years imprisonment for obtaining money under false pretences.

The duo are Otojareri Governor Lucky (a.k.a Sam Lewis) and Otojareri President Mayor (a.k.a John Jacob Carison). Their offences run contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

Lucky and Mayor were arraigned by thPort Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC, on Thursday, October 25,  2019 on one-count charge bordering on obtaining the sum of $788.00(USD) under false pretences.
