Mourinho Says Helping Tottenham To Fourth-Place Could Be Biggest Achievement Yet

Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho insists that finishing in the last Champions League spot on the Premier League standings in the absence of the attacking duo of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane could be his greatest achievement as a manager yet.

The Lilywhites have managed eight wins in 14 league games since the Portuguese manager stepped foot at the London stadium. However, they’ve lost some of their key attacking players to injury.

Tottenham who fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig in their Champions League encounter during the week are currently placed fifth on the league standings, one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea who they are poised to battle with on Saturday.

The Lilywhites have seen three league wins on the trot coming into the London affair, with Chelsea coming out tops in the reverse fixture.

Tottenham however have been put in a state of dilemma with injuries to key attackers and Mourinho is well aware of the challenges he is set to face.

“Would a top-four finish be my greatest feat? In these circumstances, yes,” the Portuguese boss told a press conference on Friday.

“Sonny and Harry score the majority of Tottenham goals. If we manage to finish fourth without Harry and Sonny would be something incredible for the boys.

“We have to give everything we have.”

If Manchestee City Champions league ban stands, the fifth-placed side will automatically qualify for the elite competition. Although, Tottenham are third on the form log since the arrival of the former United boss, the 54-year-old insists he cannot take full responsibility.

“I am but that’s not about me. Not about me,” he added when asked if he was proud of Spurs’ position in the form table.

“If it was about me, I would even choose to move quickly to July 1 and start the pre-season with my players, without injuries, going to Premier League day one with the same points as everybody else.

“That’s not about me, it’s about us, that’s the club. The boys did fantastic to put themselves back in the positions where we belong, these positions fighting for the top four. The situation is difficult.
