Osun Reverses Aregbesola’s Education Policies

Osun State government on Monday reversed many of the education policies of the immediate past administration led by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, saying new policies by the government would take effect from next academic session.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting, in Osogbo, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Civic Engagement Mrs Funke Egbemode listed the reversal of single school uniform across the state and abolished the Elementary, Middle and High school policy for the 6:3:3:4. National policy on Education

Besides, the council approved that all single-sex schools already changed to mix-schools by the last administration should go back to their single sex-status while all schools should maintain their former names.

It would be recalled that a technical Committees headed by Prof. Olu Aina delivered their recommendation with the promise to implement the desirable recommendations.

However, the council adopted the Opon lmo (tablet of knowledge) policy of the Aregbesola administration as well as the elevation of primary and secondary schools teachers to the status of Headmasters General and Tutors General that are equal to Permanent Secretaries.

She also announced the abolition Omoluwabi School management Committee and return early childhood development education to primary schools among others.

Egbemode said all the policies will take effect from the next academic session, adding that government decision is in line with the demand and aspiration of Osun people.
