The deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.

The private jet that conveyed the former Emir touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos late Friday night. He had departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA) around 10:30 p.m, aboard a private jet.

He was received by his wives, children and some friends.

Sanusi’s final destination and where he would be residing is unclear.

It was also gathered that the choice of Lagos was to ensure he was safe and in a state where he would be able to attend events, interact freely with political and business leaders.

Governor Umar Ganduje dethroned Sanusi on Monday. He announced Aminu Bayero, as the 15th Emir the same day.

The court had ruled that Sanusi be freed from detention where he had been was banished to under heavy security.

Earlier on Friday, Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, visited Sanusi in Awe, Nasarawa State.

The duo rode to Abuja in El-Rufai’s car, from where Sanusi flew to Lagos

It would be recalled that within 48 hours of the ouster, the governor gave Sanusi two appointments.

He named the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor the Vice Chairman of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, KADIPA.

El-Rufai also appointed Sanusi as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University (KASU).
