Award winning Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has been heavily blasted by Nigerians for holding a “crowded” houseparty in celebration of her husband, JJC Skillz’s birthday during this coronavirus lockdown period.
Despite the current lockdown which has forced everyone to stay indoors, the actress threw a birthday party at their home in Amen Estate and Nigerian Twitter users have slammed her, saying it’s a wrong move because of the crowd it attracted.
Present at the birthday party which had quite a number of people in attendance, was singer, Naira Marley who just returned from the UK and another top Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus.
In reaction, some Nigerians pointed to the fact that Funke Akindele did not lead by example as a worthy brand ambassador of NCDC and Dettol.
However, Funke Akindele has explained why she held the birthday party. According to the actress, most people who turned up for the birthday party had been camped in Amen estate before the lockdown order issued by President Buhari on March 29.
Funke Akindele stressed that they are all safe and happy.
And JJC Skillz has backed his wife, Funke Akindele on why they held a “crowded” houseparty on his 43rd birthday yesterday April 4.
In a video he shared, JJC who described the houseparty as a “surprise turn-up”, said everyone who attended the party at their house in Amen Estate, Lagos are safe and sound. He backed his wife’s claim of some of the attendees being camped in the estate, before President Buhari’s lockdown order.
JJC Skillz also revealed that most people who attended the birthday live in same estate with them. He showed off Naira Marley’s house and disclosed that the singer and comedian Akpororo who attended the birthday party, live in same estate with them.
He also stressed that actress Eniola Badmus self-isolated in an apartment in the said estate upon her return from the UK.
