Few days after the emergence of viral video that shows sexual interrogation of Towobola, a female NYSC member who recently passed out and graduated from the University of Ibadan, the elder sister has reacted to the incident and the identity of a Police informant who was involved in the controversial interrogation has been revealed.
Towobola was nabbed in the house of a man she recently met, she never realised that she was is in the company of a suspected robber and kidnapper until they were both arrested and interrogated in Ibadan. During her interrogation, the men who paraded her at the scene of arrest were more interested in her sexual life as they ask her about her virginity, sexual intercourse with the suspected criminal and her previous romance life. The men who were initially suspected to be police officers but now identified as informant recorded the interrogation.Their interrogation has caused outrage on social media after it was posted online and several officers linked to the operation were also arrested.
Reacting to the viral video in a chat with WITHIN NIGERIA, Towobola’s elder sister lamented bitterly on how her innocent sister was paraded and humiliated sexually. She could not fathom how the main suspect was not interrogated intensely and focus was on her sister instead.
Help us release my sister.
She is not a thief, it is not a bad thing to have a boyfriend and visit him at home, they just met each other and she does not know the kind of work he does.
It is not fair as she is being publicized online, the suspect they intend to arrest was not paraded and publicised as much as they publicised my sister, she said.
Towobola’s sibling also pleaded for everyone who has shared the video and shared her picture on social media to take them down in order to save their family from further embarrassment.
Meanwhile, the identity of the man who was loudly heard in the viral video has been exposed. He has been identified as Tope Owoeye, whom many people thought was a police officer, he was the one behind the camera harassing Towobola.
Unknown to many, Tope is a police informant but parades himself as a police officer attached to the Abba Kyari led team of the Inspector General of Police Mornitoring Team, known as IRT.
During the humiliation on camera, Tope was heard loudly asking the lady unprofessional questions in the video, he was seen hitting the Towobola who was reluctant to speak and further threatened to release footage.
Few out of many questions asked during the sexual interrogation are;
“Are you a virgin?
“Where is the man that deflowered you?
“Have you had sex with the suspect?
“You wouldn’t agree if I woo you?
Tope is well known in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and in some of the neighbouring states for his alleged link with top kidnap kingpins and armed robbers having been speculated to be a cultist during his student days at Federal Polytechnic, Offa, where he claims to have studied accounting.
Tope Owoeye, known in the social circles, as Wyclef, and he is often found in the company of artistes.
The police informant was so boastful of himself and his nickname in the viral video that he kept asking the robbery suspect if he has heard of him in the past.
Tope frequents gatherings of local musicians and artistes from where he gathers information which passes on to assist the police track undesirable elements in the society.
He is said not to have a visible means of livelihood aside from being an informant, and an ex cultist whom many people believe exposed him to know many criminals in his area of jurisdiction. When probed, he claims to be based in London where he does his business.
Tope is also said to own a hotel that is not doing well in Ibadan as part of his cover up foe his invisible source of living large.
According to reports, Tope and his other police informant, who were on the run have been apprehended and detained alongside their other two accomplices.
