The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed the 15 senatorial and state bye-elections slated for October 31 in 11 states.

Although the reason for the postponement was not stated by the commission, it may not unconnected with the raging #ENDSARS protests across the nation.

The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye in a terse statement said the decision was taken after meeting with the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on Thursday.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the 2023 presidential election will hold on February 18, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed.

Chairman of the Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this on Thursday.
