Former sports minister Bala Ka’oje dies at 60

Bala Ka’oje, a former minister of sports and chairman of the defunct National Sports Commission has passed on aged 60.

Mr Ka’oje died on Tuesday morning.

The Nigeria Football Federation expressed shock and sadness at the passing of the former minister.

NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi described the deceased as “a dignified and unassuming public servant who showed great passion and interest in the development and improvement of Nigeria sports.”

Born in Kebbi State on September 20, 1960, Ka’oje earned a master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

His remains were interred in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon according to Islamic rites.

The NFF was represented at the funeral by Sanusi and head of member associations Ali Muhammed.
