  • Three years after, the Ebonyi PDP scribe opened up, narrated his ordeals in the hands of his alleged kidnappers
  • According to him, it took the intervention of the then Inspector General of Police before he was released

Three years after his alleged ugly experience in the hands of state or rather regional security outfit in Ebonyi state, the incumbent state publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has opened up, narrating what he passed through in the hands of Ebubeagu security outfit.

Sir Nwoba Chika Nwoba explained that he nearly lost his life in the hands of these security personnel for no definite reason.

Recounting his ordeals in his verified Facebook account using third person singular, Sir Nwoba said that “ exactly on the 10th of January by 11 in the morning 2022  Nwoba Chika Nwoba  was kidnapped in Abakaliki by the Ebubeagu.

“He was attending a State Working Committee meeting of PDP in the house of Sen. Obinna Ogba in Nkalagu from where he was to head for Awka. When they got to the Speedway Filling Station in Abakaliki he met the protocol officer to the then Speaker of the House of Assembly and after exchanging pleasantries, he didn’t know he was informing Ebubeagu of his presence there.

“ As they (himself and Deputy Chairman of PDP) drove an inch away from the filling station, the same protocol officer double-crossed their vehicle and before they could know what was happening, Ebubeagu arrived and started firing and tearing him apart, spraying into his eyes a peppery substance.

“Luckily to him, the Deputy Chairman reached out to the Anti Kidnap of the Nigeria Police to come rescue him. As the Ebubeagu carried him over into the boot of their vehicle, firing randomly, the Anti Kidnap arrived and blocked their vehicle. They refused to release him to the police saying that the Governor was waiting for his arrival in the Government House.

“The police resisted and took him out. They took him to the State Command of the Police in Abakaliki and administered first aid treatment on me.”

Narrating further his journey into the valley of death, Sir Nwoba who currently vying for the State Chairmanship of PDP in Ebonyi state said that “Government House already gave the then Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Aliyu order to detain him after treatment. He was detained.

“The next day, Chinedu Ogah of the House of Representatives came with a petition against him alleging that he killed four persons at different locations of Ikwo and leading a cult group to behead an Ebubeagu officer in a village in his town. The murder case was filed against him.”

How he was rescued by the IGP

On how he was rescued after series of torture, humiliation and intimidation, Sir Nwoba narrated that “the next day, Ebonyi State Government came with two petitions against him. Two days after, he was taken to court. He fainted in court. The Inspector General of Police intervened and ordered the CP to remove the murder charges against him.

“He was taken to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital for another round of treatment. Later, he was taken to the police cell from where he was driven to the prison in Afikpo. He was there for a month and later brought to court where he was given bail and released.

It was in prison he got information from his kidnappers that the Governor ordered that he should be injected in the head and released if he was brought to the Government House. That he was very lucky. Earlier as shown in the pictures, he encountered an assassination attempt on the order of Gov. David Umahi.

He is thanking those who contributed in different ways to propel his forceful release then.”
