As the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) issues call-up letters to incoming graduates to embark on a 21-day orientation exercise in preparation for the start of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, corps members are urged from going on night excursions.
The 21-day orientation exercise, which will take place simultaneously in all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, will begin with the receipt and registration of potential corps members on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and will terminate at midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026.
According to Caroline Embu, NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Prospective Corps Members mobilized for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II service year will be sworn in on Friday, April 24th, 2026. Meanwhile, the Orientation Course concludes on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
As fresh graduates under the age of 30 prepare for the one-year required service year, here’s what they should know about the NYSC Call Up Letter:
It is a formal invitation for the NYSC service year.
It is a passport or ticket for entering the NYSC orientation camp.
It’s an official NYSC document that confirms whether a graduate has been mobilized.
It covers important data such as where a graduate will travel, when to report, and what to bring.
It may alternatively be interpreted as a deployment order or camp admission pass.
It will show the graduate’s full name and passport photo.
It will also reveal the graduate’s Call-Up Number – a unique ID at the top right corner, which looks like this: ‘NYSC/2025/LAG/2063422
The deployment state—that is, the state in which the graduate would serve for a full year—will be included.
It will also include the address of the orientation camp. Rarely, the state of camp may differ from the state of your deployment.
It will include the precise day you are supposed to arrive at camp, along with your batch and stream.
It will list the officer-in-charge’s name, the things you need to bring, and any rules you must abide by.
Typically, the NYSC call-up letter is accessible 1-3 weeks following the online registration deadline, or roughly 4-8 weeks following enrollment.
It is recommended that prospective corps members visit http://portal.nysc.org.ng, log in with their passwords and emails, select “Print Call-Up Letter” on their dashboards, download, and print a minimum of two to four color copies.
Before departing, prospective candidates are urged to confirm a number of details, including name, date of birth, gender, institution, course, graduation year, camp address, and deployment status.
Prospective Corps members should be aware that it is illegal under NYSC Act Section 13 to fail to report.
To prevent infractions, prospective Corps members are urged to read the camp rules.
