It was indeed a black Friday in Ukehe community, Igbo-Etiti local government area of Enugu state as a middle-aged man, Onyebuchi Victor ( a.k.a. Biggalo ) allegedly beheaded his mother Ada over food dispute.
WITHIN NIGERIA source gathered that the ugly incident happened at Mkporogwu village, throwing the entire community into mourning.
A resident of the community, Jude Nwonu told our reporter that “yesterday, being Thursday, Onyebuchi was busy sharpening his machete with file. The suspect was asked where he was going with such extremely sharp machete and told his friends that he was to clear a thick bush for cassava. But, as we can now see, he had an ulterior motive.”
Explainng further, Mr. Nwonu said that ” it all happened that Onyebuchi came back from work and asked his mum to give him some food to eat.
“The mother told him that there was no food for him to eat, reminding him that he no longer gave her any money for food.
“After much heated argument, the suspect waylaid his mother inside their house and started beating her.
“Probably not satisfied with the beating, he went for his machete and used it on his mother. He went a step further and used it to.butcher her.”
WITHIN NIGERIA source said that at last, Mr. Onyebuchi allegedly used the machete to chop off the head of his mother.
An eye witness, Christian Anyiam told our reporter that ” after seeing that he had committed a heinous crime by beheading his mother, he ran away from the community.
“At his age, he has no wife or child. it was a neighbor who came to buy ogili ugba (local delicacy) which the mother was selling that saw what happened and raised alarm.
“The community youths turned area upside down in search of hom, yet he was no where to be found. It was with the combines efforts of Umulumgbe youth (a neighbouring community youths) that yielded positive result and got him overpowered and brought back to his father’s house.”
Asked if such crime has happened in the community before, our source revealed that ” I am now forty two years but I have not seen or heard that a man or woman has beheaded anybody in this community much more the person’s mother.”
As to whether the suspect has had any mental challenge before, our source said that ” I don’t think he has any mental challenge before. What I suspect is hard drug and Indian hemp.”
Our reporter also gathered the body of the deceased has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in Nsukka metropolis.
However, all efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Enugu state police command Mr. Daniel Ndukwe proved abortive as he was not picking his calls.
