According to Awogboro, they were ambushed and seized by the assailants at Elewura as they were trying to connect to the expressway
The wife and twin children of the younger brother of the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, have been reportedly abducted by gunmen.
Recall that Adelabu resigned his position as power minister in April to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Oyo State. He however failed in his gubernatorial bid.
Those close to the family disclosed that the victims were kidnapped on Monday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident was confirmed by Adelabu’s camp. His media aide, Femi Awogboro, told newsmen that the victims were abducted by unidentified gunmen while travelling in the city.
According to Awogboro, they were ambushed and seized by the assailants at Elewura as they were trying to connect to the expressway.
He said “Adelabu’s junior brother’s wife (Laide), together with her twins (Peter and Paul), was kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan.”
He further stated that: “The family were going out this morning from Elewura to link the express when they were attacked and whisked away by the unknown kidnappers.”
The police in the Southwest state have yet to confirm the incident.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said: “I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on.”
