Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham recently appeared on the Morayo Show, where she spoke openly about her career, family life, personal values and the lessons she has learned over the years.
Although many viewers expected her to dwell on her reported fallout with fellow actress Funke Akindele, the conversation turned out to be about much more than that. Toyin reflected on her decision to focus on YouTube after recording a billion-naira box office success, how difficult experiences have made her emotionally stronger, why her family remains her biggest priority, and how she balances motherhood with a demanding career.
Here are the biggest takeaways from the interview.
Choosing YouTube After a Billion-Naira Box Office Success

Toyin began by reflecting on the success of Oversabi Aunty, which grossed more than ₦1 billion at the Nigerian box office. Rather than trying to repeat that success with several cinema releases each year, she said she has chosen a different path.
According to her, she now plans to release only one cinema film annually while focusing most of her energy on her YouTube platform, where she has released films such as Fruit Covenant, Dada 100, and Alakada Gen Z.
She explained that the decision came after taking time to rethink her priorities. She said:
“I’ve made up my mind that this year… let me just face my family, my career and my fans.”
Toyin also dismissed the idea that YouTube success is measured only by views. She explained that watch time and revenue are equally important, noting that her channel continues to perform well even when some videos record fewer views than others.
She also announced that Alakada Gen Z Part 3 will be released on YouTube, promising another entertaining story with meaningful lessons for viewers.
Her Response to Questions About Funke Akindele

One of the most anticipated moments of the interview came when Morayo asked Toyin about her reported fallout with fellow actress Funke Akindele.
The two actresses appeared to have moved past years of industry rivalry in September 2025 after they were seen laughing together and sharing a conversation at the premiere of a film hosted by actress Wunmi Toriola and skit maker Kiekie.
However, fresh speculation emerged in March 2026 after Funke appeared to ignore Toyin’s attempt to greet her during Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere. The incident sparked conversations online and was followed by reports that Toyin unfollowed Funke on Instagram.
Asked about the situation, Toyin declined to revisit the issue. In her words:
“First and foremost, I don’t want to talk about it because I don’t like talking about my past. Everybody has a right to their reaction and actions. So it’s okay.”
Rather than reopening the conversation, she made it clear that she prefers to leave the issue behind.
“Nothing Anybody Says Can Get to Me Anymore”

Speaking about criticism, Toyin revealed that experiences from the past three to four years changed her outlook on life. She said those difficult moments made her stronger and taught her not to allow public opinions control her emotions.
According to her, online criticism no longer has the power to affect her. In her words:
“I don’t like when they pitch me against anybody. I just want to be me. I just want to be Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, aya won l’Ogbomosho. I just want to be Dada. I just want to be Iya Ire, Iya Tope. I just want to be that wife. I’m always home if I’m not at any event. So that’s who I am. So I don’t really like it so most times when they do it to my junior colleagues sometimes I come out to defend them… because I know what it does to you.
There is nothing anybody is going to say now that’s going to get to me anymore.”
She added that if she chooses to respond to criticism today, it is simply because she wants to have fun, not because the comments hurt her.
The Christian Values That Guide Her
Toyin also spoke about the values she learned while growing up in a Christian home. She recalled how her parents lived together for decades until her father’s death and said their upbringing taught her the importance of treating people with kindness and respect.
According to her and contrary to the opinion of some netizens, respecting others does not reduce a person’s worth. Instead, she believes it adds to one’s character.
She also said she intends to pass those same values of love, forgiveness and respect to the next generation.
Marriage to Kolawole Ajeyemi: “He Lets Me Be Me”

The actress spoke warmly about her marriage to fellow actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, describing him as one of the best things that has happened to her. She said her husband understands her personality and gives her the freedom to be herself.
Rather than trying to change her, she said he supports her growth and happiness. Toyin shared that during the production of her YouTube films, Kolawole often helps behind the scenes by coordinating logistics and making sure everything runs smoothly.
She also reflected on what marriage truly means. According to her, marriage is not about social media posts or public displays. Instead, it is about commitment, understanding and choosing to build a life together despite differences.
Speaking about romance, she laughed off popular stereotypes about Yoruba men, saying romance means different things to different people. For her, genuine support and partnership matter more than grand romantic gestures. In her words:
“I tell people if you put a camera in my house it’s going to be one of the biggest reality shows because you know my husband is very matured. My husband is 1979 January 17, so he is a man. My husband is not a boy. Our first born is 21. Do you understand? So if you see us at home, I’m always like that child. So he understands. He lets me be… My son is just 6 years, he’s going to be seven.
So I would say Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. He lets me shine and apart from letting me shine, He lets me be me. You know I used to smoke cigarettes.
Yes, I used to I still smoke vape once in a while but I stopped cigarette. My husband told me something when I got pregnant. He said, ‘I hope you know you can’t smoke anymore.’ When I gave birth, we went out, I smoked, he saw me and didn’t say anything.
He just said, ‘I’m not stopping you from smoking or drinking alcohol, but any day I see it in the hand of my child, that will be the end of that marriage, but I want my home.
I can call my husband and tell him that ‘oh babe Morayo said we are going to club’. My husband will just say let me talk to her, he’ll tell you ‘please don’t let her drink, if you let her drink like this she will just be jumping up and down’, that’s the kind of man he is. He lets me shine, he Lets me be happy. He lets me be me…
My husband, ara Ogbomosho… I can’t say he’s romantic and I can’t say he’s not romantic in his own way. It depend on what you mean. You know Nigerians when you say romance… but I tell you marriage is not child’s play, it’s not photo shoot, it’s not Instagram or social media it’s marriage.”
Balancing Motherhood With a Busy Career

Despite her demanding schedule, Toyin said she remains actively involved in raising her son. She said she attends school meetings, PTA sessions and inter-house sports events whenever necessary.
According to her, owning her YouTube platform has given her more control over her schedule. She also explained that she now shoots most of her productions close to home, allowing her to return home every day instead of spending long periods away from her family.
For Toyin, career success means little if it comes at the expense of being present for her child.
Looking Ahead
Toyin also teased one of her biggest upcoming projects. She revealed plans for a major event called Bestie Jesu, a concert she said she promised God she would organise after achieving her ₦1 billion box office goal.
According to her, the event will be one of the biggest projects of her career and represents another chapter in her journey as an entertainer and filmmaker. She added that she would invite just 500 people to take part in the concert with her and would share a link online at the appropriate time.
Conclusion
While many viewers tuned in expecting fresh details about Toyin Abraham’s reported fallout with Funke Akindele, the interview offered a broader picture of where the actress is today.
Rather than dwelling on old controversies, she spoke about rebuilding her career, protecting her peace, strengthening her family life and staying true to the values she was raised with.
From her growing YouTube success to her thoughts on marriage, motherhood and personal growth, the conversation showed an actress who is focused less on public opinion and more on the life she wants to build for herself, her family and the loyal fans who continue to support her.
