An ordinary social media post has sparked a heated back and forth among three popular women.
It all began with a photo. Within hours, it had grown into a heated exchange involving actress Anita Joseph, influencer Caramel Plug and actress Angela Okorie. What started as a complaint over an AI-edited image soon became a debate about originality, giving credit, the use of artificial intelligence and old personal grievances.
While some people only saw the viral posts, the full story unfolded in stages, with apologies, clapbacks and accusations dominating Instagram throughout the day. Here’s how it all happened.
How one AI-edited photo started the controversy

The drama began on July 10 after Caramel Plug accused Anita Joseph of using an edited version of her photo without permission.
Resharing Anita’s post, Caramel expressed shock at seeing her face replaced with Anita’s in what appeared to be an AI-generated image.
“You don’t even follow me on any socials, we don’t know each other. Anita you removed my head from my picture and inserted your head in it and POSTED IT PUBLICLY???”
To back up her claim, Caramel shared what she described as the original image and questioned why anyone would “embarrass themselves” by doing such a thing.
Anita Joseph apologises and blames AI

Not long after the call-out, Anita Joseph responded with an apology. According to the actress, the image was created by someone handling an AI project, and she insisted there was no intention to steal Caramel’s work or identity.
“Sorry baby… I can’t even be caught up in this kind of mess, I’m so sorry.”
She also blamed the person behind the AI edit, saying:
“You see why I don’t like dis AI things… Na where I wan help person promote him work.”
Anita maintained that she had only wanted to support the creator’s work and admitted the situation had gone wrong.
The apology was rejected

Caramel Plug, however, was not convinced by Anita’s explanation. Responding to the apology, she dismissed the AI defence and urged Anita to ensure her “imaginary AI boy” did better next time.
She also made it clear that she did not appreciate Anita calling her “baby.”
“Please ensure your imaginary AI BOY does better next time. Secondly, I am not your baby. I really don’t know you.”
Her response quickly shifted the mood of the conversation, turning what had seemed like a settled issue into another public exchange.
The exchange becomes more personal

After Caramel rejected the apology, Anita fired back. Although she admitted she had apologised, she argued that Caramel’s photo had not been widely known before the controversy.
In one of her responses, Anita claimed:
“Your picture didn’t even trend. I made it trend now.”
She later suggested she was deleting her apology after her supporters advised her to do so and continued to exchange words with Caramel in several Instagram posts.
The disagreement had now moved beyond the AI image itself and into a personal war of words.
Angela Okorie enters the conversation

As the exchange gathered attention, actress Angela Okorie weighed in and her comments took the discussion in a different direction.
Angela criticised Anita’s actions, arguing that no public figure should replace another person’s face with theirs, regardless of whether AI was involved. She described the act as disrespectful and likened it to stealing another person’s creativity.
Angela also argued that creators deserved recognition for their work instead of having it copied or altered without permission.
In another post, she wrote:
“How do you say you are a celeb and you use another person’s picture, removed their head and replace it with your head… You are what we call a complete yeyebrity.”
“You can use AI to create your own style… don’t steal another person’s hard work.”
“Anita leave all this chochocho. Intellectual theft is intellectual theft. People should learn how to take correction.”
“When you copy people’s styles, first of all applaud them… don’t steal another person’s hard work.”
She went further by saying many people had copied her own fashion, hairstyles and mannerisms over the years without acknowledging her. According to Angela, AI should be used to create original ideas rather than recreate someone else’s work.
Angela vs Anita: Old wounds reopen

Angela’s criticism did not stop at the AI debate. She used the opportunity to revisit past disagreements with Anita Joseph, making several personal remarks and allegations about their previous relationship.
Among other things, Angela accused Anita of mistreating her in the past and claimed their issues stretched back years. She wrote:
“When I was shot
Anita said it was karma
She dare say that?she paid bloggers to change the narratives she knows what she did to me, she might be pretending to people who don’t know her, not me yeye Dey smell
Only powerless people use police against people they should talk face to face with, only a coward!!
She has literally lied to a lot of people I know ,she goes to my friends to castigate me ,and be like a day will come when the world will hear my story! Anita is evil, Anita you are a coward if you use police against people taught you said you have hands for so many years you did me unspeakable things, that image you are tryna paint your self to be is not who you are.
Listen I don’t give 1 fu*k about any idi*t y’all dig
You weren’t there when she was doing me dirty
So shut up.”
Mocking Anita’s crashed marriage with hypeman, MC Fish, Anita wrote:
“Anita you wey go carry hype man wey you suppose dash money for club you go Dey marry am Anita you are an ex convict, check my records am too Legit, you have low self esteem…”
Anita responded with a series of posts of her own. The actress warned Angela against mentioning her again and claimed she would take legal action if the attacks continued. In her words:
“Angela Okorie
Who gave you-new drugs?
You’re out of ur cage again anu mpama
I will arrest you and you won’t come out”
No one is coming to save you cloutina”
I know how you begged my godmum to help you ..
She said I should forgive you ,l said naaa, like I knew you were going to escape yaba left again ”
Atulu na enweghi ‘onye nche .
You’re unrepentant onye ihoriho.”
“Your case is still pending oh. Your case file shall be opend again ” You wana trend so badly.”
She also referenced previous disputes between them, insisting she was no longer willing to ignore Angela’s comments.
From that point, the conversation was no longer about an edited image. It had evolved into a public feud rooted in unresolved personal issues between the two actresses.
What the controversy says about AI and social media
Beyond the personal attacks, the incident sparked wider conversations online. Many people sided with Caramel Plug, arguing that editing another person’s image without permission and even with AI was wrong.
Others accepted Anita Joseph’s explanation and believed the incident was an honest mistake caused by someone handling the AI design.
Angela Okorie’s intervention also divided opinions. While some agreed with her message about originality and respecting creators, others felt her comments unnecessarily escalated a dispute that had initially been between Anita and Caramel.
