Uche Maduagwu has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainers. Over the years, the actor and social media commentator has made headlines for his outspoken opinions, celebrity call-outs, and provocative online posts.
While many of his disputes have remained on social media, a few have spilled into the real world, resulting in physical confrontations that generated widespread attention.
Interestingly, some of these altercations later turned out to be more than they appeared, while others continue to spark debate among fans.
Here is a look at four celebrities and public figures who have physically clashed with Uche Maduagwu.
1. Jim Iyke

One of the most talked-about celebrity fights involved veteran actor Jim Iyke and Uche Maduagwu.
The drama began in August 2021 when Maduagwu launched a series of social media attacks against Jim Iyke. He questioned the actor’s source of wealth, compared him to convicted fraudster Hushpuppi, and even threatened to use his connections to get the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate him.
Days later, a viral video surfaced online showing an angry Jim Iyke confronting Maduagwu in a Lagos office. In the footage, Maduagwu could be heard shouting as Jim Iyke lunged at him while others tried to separate the pair.
The video quickly dominated social media, with many Nigerians believing the actor had finally reacted to months of online provocation.
However, the story took an unexpected turn months later. During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Jim Iyke admitted that the entire confrontation had been staged to promote his movie, Bad Comments.
Explaining his decision, he said he understood people’s attraction to gossip and controversy and decided to use that reality to create buzz around the project.
Following the revelation, Maduagwu also disclosed that he was paid ₦4.8 million to participate in the stunt, bringing an end to one of the industry’s most talked-about mysteries.
2. Funmi Bank Anthony

In April 2026, actress and filmmaker Funmi Bank Anthony found herself at the centre of a public dispute with Maduagwu.
The controversy started after Maduagwu allegedly made claims linking Funmi to the long-discussed rivalry between Nollywood stars Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
Funmi strongly denied the allegations. In an emotional response shared online, she insisted she had never met Maduagwu and had no involvement in any feud between the two actresses. She also revealed that she and Toyin Abraham had known each other since childhood.
The disagreement soon moved beyond social media. After reportedly giving Maduagwu an ultimatum to remove the claims, Funmi’s legal team filed a ₦100 million defamation suit against him.
Shortly afterward, a viral video emerged showing the actress confronting Maduagwu inside a Lagos cinema. The footage quickly spread across blogs and social media platforms, with many netizens reacting to the heated exchange.
Because the confrontation happened around the period her movie Trade By Bata was being released in cinemas, some netizens questioned whether the incident was entirely organic or whether it also helped generate publicity for the film.
Regardless of the speculation, the clash became one of the most talked-about entertainment stories of the year.
3. Peks Ikeji

Another notable confrontation came in December 2025 when actor, comedian and media personality Peks Ikeji reportedly clashed with Maduagwu.
According to reports, tensions had been building after Maduagwu made comments that were perceived as disrespectful toward Peks Ikeji.
The disagreement eventually moved offline, with videos and photos circulating online showing an altercation between the two men.
As expected, reactions were mixed. While some people believed the confrontation was a genuine response to Maduagwu’s controversial online behaviour, others questioned whether there was more to the story, given his history of headline-making disputes.
The conversation intensified days later when Maduagwu appeared as a guest on Peks Ikeji’s newly launched podcast, I Just Want to Know.
During the interview, Maduagwu made several revelations, including claims about being paid to attack singer Davido online. He also used the platform to apologise to the Afrobeats star.
The timing of the podcast appearance led to further debate about whether the altercation and interview were connected, though no official confirmation emerged that the fight itself had been staged.
4. Mike of Lagos

The latest addition to the list came in July 2026 when Maduagwu reportedly clashed with businessman and politician Hon. Mike Ndubuisi Orjiakor, popularly known as Mike of Lagos.
Reports suggested that the dispute stemmed from comments Uche Maduagwu had reportedly made online about the businessman.
The video that surfaced on social media platforms on July 15 appeared to show a physical confrontation between the pair, drawing widespread reactions across social media. In the clip, Uche was seen receiving a pedicure when Mike of Lagos walked in and warned him. Things escalated between the two, and the businessman was captured beating Uche up as those around them tried to separate them.
Because previous altercations involving Maduagwu had later been linked to publicity campaigns or promotional activities, many netizens initially reacted with scepticism. Some fans also joked that they had seen the “script” before.
However, unlike some of Maduagwu’s previous high-profile confrontations, there is no obvious movie release, cinema rollout, or major commercial project attached to Mike of Lagos at the time.
That difference led some people to view the incident as potentially more genuine than the publicity-driven controversies that had come before it.
Conclusion

Whether real, staged, or somewhere in between, Uche Maduagwu’s public confrontations have become a recurring part of his celebrity brand.
From Jim Iyke’s now-famous publicity stunt to more recent clashes involving Funmi Bank Anthony, Peks Ikeji and Mike of Lagos, the actor has repeatedly found himself at the centre of controversies that blur the line between entertainment, publicity and personal disputes.
What remains clear is that every new confrontation attracts attention. But after years of headline-making clashes, many Nigerians now approach such incidents with one question: is it another publicity stunt, or is this time different?
