What started as a disagreement over an alleged unpaid tour debt has snowballed into the latest dispute in the entertainment industry. In less than a month, DJ Timmy has repeatedly accused Timi Dakolo of refusing to pay money he claims is owed to his company, issued a public ultimatum and threatened to expose the singer’s alleged private life.
Timi Dakolo, has also responded through his legal team.
So, how did the disagreement get to this point? Here’s everything we know so far.
Who is Timi Dakolo?

Timi Dakolo is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated soul and gospel-influenced singers. He first rose to national prominence in 2007 after winning the inaugural edition of Idols West Africa, a victory that launched a music career spanning nearly two decades.
Known for his powerful vocals and heartfelt songwriting, Dakolo has built a reputation for producing songs that celebrate love, family and patriotism. Some of his best-known tracks include Great Nation, Iyawo Mi, The Vow and Medicine, earning him a loyal fan base both in Nigeria and abroad.
Away from the stage, Dakolo is widely known as a devoted family man. He has been married to Busola Dakolo, a photographer, author and media personality since 2012. The couple have three childrentogether.
Who is DJ Timmy?

DJ Timmy, popularly known as Baddest DJ Timmy, is a Nigerian disc jockey, entertainment promoter and the founder of Revolve Entertainment. Born Kubeyinje Otis Ayodeji, he was raised in Surulere, Lagos.
According to information he has shared publicly, he attended Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education Staff School for his primary education, King’s College, Lagos, for junior secondary school and Federal Government College, Ijanikin, for his senior secondary education.
Although he once dreamed of becoming a lawyer, he said his career path changed after his parents established a successful school. He later studied Educational Management (English) at Lead City University, Ibadan, before earning a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.
Beyond promoting events, DJ Timmy has worked with several Nigerian artistes and is also known for his 2017 collaboration with Yung6ix and LK Kuddy on the song Connect.
How the alleged debt dispute began
The controversy first became public on June 22, 2026, when DJ Timmy shared a photograph of himself holding a handwritten placard that read:
“TIMI DAKOLO PAY YOUR DEBT.”
In the caption accompanying the post, he publicly accused the singer of refusing to repay money allegedly owed to Revolve Entertainment. He wrote:
“Pay back all the money you owe @timidakolo. This won’t be ending anytime soon and I will ensure I get every single pound and compensation for this rubbish you put us through.”
DJ Timmy also claimed he had successfully worked with more than 15 artistes without experiencing similar problems.
“I have worked with over 15 artiste and never had a problem. Keep your Nigerian mentality in the bin when you are dealing with international promoters.”
He further alleged that he intended to report Dakolo and his team for fraud.
Alongside his allegations, DJ Timmy shared what appeared to be an invoice issued by Revolve Entertainment. According to the document, Revolve Entertainment billed Timi Dakolo £4,106 for expenses connected to a proposed United Kingdom tour.
The invoice listed costs including venue bookings in London, Sheffield and Glasgow, visa agent deposits, graphic design, website and domain fees, consultation services and travel expenses. It also stated that payment was expected within 14 business days.
At the time, DJ Timmy maintained that the money represented expenses his company incurred while preparing for the proposed tour.
Why DJ Timmy is calling out Timi Dakolo again
Nearly a month after his first public accusation, DJ Timmy returned to Instagram with an even stronger message.
In a post published on Friday, July 17, 2026, he claimed it had been almost one month since Dakolo allegedly persuaded him to archive his original post while promising to resolve the issue. According to DJ Timmy, that payment never came. He wrote:
“Today is Friday, and Wednesday makes it one month exactly you begged me to archive my list, and still Timi Dakolo hasn’t paid us back.”
He then issued an ultimatum, warning that if payment was not received by Monday, July 20, he would begin exposing what he described as the singer’s private activities. He wrote:
“Dear Timi Dakolo, here is your last and final chance. I hear say you get strong head, may the best strong head win.”
The latest post marked a significant escalation. What had begun as a disagreement over an alleged debt had now evolved into public threats involving Dakolo’s personal life, drawing widespread reactions online.
Timi Dakolo breaks his silence through his legal team

For weeks, Timi Dakolo did not publicly respond to DJ Timmy’s allegations. That changed on Saturday, July 18, 2026, when his legal representatives, Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, released an official statement on his behalf.
The statement categorically denied that Dakolo owed Revolve Entertainment £4,106 or any other amount relating to the proposed UK tour. His lawyers wrote:
“Our Client unequivocally denies these allegations.”
According to the statement, both parties had entered into a written Performance Agreement before the proposed tour.
However, the agreement allegedly placed responsibility for securing venues, sound, lighting, technical production, visas, accommodation, transportation and other logistical expenses entirely on Revolve Entertainment as the promoter. The lawyers further stated:
“The Agreement further provided that such expenses were non-recoupable and were to be borne entirely by the Promoter.”
They also argued that only advertising and promotional expenses approved beforehand by Dakolo and his management could later be recovered.
Another key point raised in the statement was that the tour never took place. According to the legal team, the proposed shows were cancelled because Revolve Entertainment allegedly failed to meet the technical production standards required for Dakolo and his band. The statement said:
“The proposed tour never proceeded because Revolve Entertainment failed to satisfy fundamental production requirements, particularly in respect of sound, lighting and technical production.”
It added that Dakolo never publicly announced the tour because the necessary conditions had not been met. As a result, his lawyers argued that he could not be held responsible for expenses the promoter voluntarily incurred.
Dakolo accuses DJ Timmy of defamation and blackmail
Beyond denying the debt, Dakolo’s legal team strongly criticised DJ Timmy’s conduct on social media.
The statement accused him of repeatedly referring to the singer using insulting language, invading his privacy and attempting to pressure him through public threats. According to the lawyers:
“Such conduct is wholly unacceptable and constitute actionable civil wrongs and criminal offences under the laws of both Nigeria, England and Wales, including but not limited to defamation, misuse of private information, harassment, blackmail and related causes of action.”
The legal team demanded that DJ Timmy and Revolve Entertainment immediately stop making further allegations, remove existing publications, issue a public retraction and apologise within seven days.
The statement also warned that Dakolo was considering legal proceedings in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom if the demands were ignored.
The biggest question: Who is responsible for the £4,106?
At the centre of the controversy is one important question: who should bear the disputed expenses? DJ Timmy maintains that Revolve Entertainment spent thousands of pounds preparing for the UK tour and believes Dakolo should reimburse those costs.
Dakolo, however, says the signed agreement clearly placed those responsibilities on the promoter and that the expenses were never meant to be repaid by the artiste.
Without the complete contract, supporting correspondence and any future court findings, it is impossible for the public to independently verify whose interpretation is correct.
For now, both sides continue to stand firmly by their positions.
What happens next?
The dispute has now moved beyond social media exchanges. DJ Timmy publicly set Monday, July 20, 2026, as his deadline for payment, warning of further disclosures if his demands were not met.
Meanwhile, Dakolo’s legal team has demanded an immediate end to the allegations and warned that legal action may be pursued in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom if the publications remain online.
Whether the disagreement ends through negotiation or in court remains to be seen.
Conclusion
What began as a disagreement over a proposed UK tour has developed into a highly public dispute involving allegations of an unpaid £4,106 debt, threats to reveal alleged private information and the possibility of cross-border legal action.
While DJ Timmy insists he is simply trying to recover money he believes is owed, Timi Dakolo maintains that he owes nothing and argues that the promoter is attempting to hold him responsible for costs that were contractually its own responsibility.
Until additional evidence is released or a court determines the facts, the central issues in the dispute remain contested, with each side presenting a sharply different account of what happened.
