The arrest of a 36-year-old mother in Anambra State has sparked widespread outrage after a disturbing video involving her young daughter circulated online, prompting celebrities and public figures to speak out.

Among those reacting are comedian and comedienne Real Warri Pikin, content creator Nancy Umeh, actors Adeniyi Johnson and Mosun Filani Oduoye, and media personality Do2dtun, who expressed anger over the allegations and questioned how such a situation could happen.

The case has also raised fresh concerns about the kind of content being shared online, the protection of children and the responsibilities of social media platforms.

What Happened In Anambra?

Anulika Onyeanusia

The case came to public attention after a disturbing video involving a minor began circulating on social media. In the video, the woman raised her daughter’s leg up, and netizens could hear the screams and cry of the minor.

The 36-year-old also showed viewers the sex toy she used while calling for donations. The face of the minor was also revealed on the livestream while her mother smiled on.

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command said it acted on information gathered through open-source intelligence and arrested a 36-year-old woman identified as Anulika Onyeanusia in Onitsha.

According to the police, the arrest was linked to an alleged case of child pornography and sexual abuse involving a minor. The operation also led to the rescue of four children aged two, three, six and nine.

Police said sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were recovered, while Onyeanusia’s husband was also being questioned to establish whether he had any connection to the alleged offence.

The police said the investigation was ongoing and stressed that the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children remained a priority. It also said the children would receive appropriate care, counselling and other support.

The development quickly moved from a police investigation to a major social media conversation, with several celebrities expressing their anger over the case.

Warri Pikin

One of the celebrities who reacted strongly was Real Warri Pikin. The comedian cum actress shared several posts on Instagram expressing shock and anger over the allegations. In one of them, she asked:

“Where is mother’s LOVE? 💔😭😡.”

In another post, she wrote:

“I am sick to my stomach 💔😭😡. Mothers!!!!!!!!! WTF is Going on??? 😡.”

Warri Pikin also questioned the idea of using children for online content, writing:

“Not everyone deserves to be a parent😡”

She later reacted to the claim that the disturbing footage was generated using artificial intelligence, asking:

“It’s AI bawo!!!!! How can you do that to a child all in the name of content 😡😡😡😡😡.”

Her reaction captured one of the biggest emotions surrounding the case, with disbelief that a child could allegedly be exposed to such a situation for online content or money.

Nancy Umeh

Nancy Umeh

Lifestyle content creator Nancy Umeh gave one of the most emotional reactions to the case. After seeing the video, she shared a lengthy response on Instagram, admitting that what she had watched deeply affected her.

She said she was struggling to get the images out of her head and expressed concern about the long-term effect the alleged abuse could have on the child.

Umeh repeatedly called for the woman to face severe punishment and said she should “never see the light of day.”
She also appealed directly to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, asking the agency to intervene. In the caption accompanying her post, she wrote:

“@officialnaptipnigeria, please, this woman must NEVER see the light of day. I am beyond livid!”

Umeh also revealed that some people had sent her the video after it began circulating online. She pleaded with them not to send her such material again, saying she needed therapy after watching it.
Her reaction shifted the conversation from outrage over the alleged act to the possible psychological consequences for the child.

Adeniyi Johnson

Adeniyi Johnson

Actor Adeniyi Johnson was also among those who reacted. In the comments section of a blog post about the case, he wrote:

“What a mother!!! ❌❌❌❌.”

He later returned to the comments with a stronger demand, saying:

“Take the children from her and lock her up!!! She and all her accomplices ❌❌❌”

Johnson’s comments reflected the anger expressed by many Nigerians who believe the priority should now be protecting the children and establishing who else, if anyone, was involved.

Mosun Filani

Mosun Filani

Actress Mosun Filani Oduoye also reacted in the comments section of a blog post about the case. She focused on the woman’s demeanour when she was being confronted after the video surfaced, writing:

“See her expression sef, she is not even remorseful……”

Do2dtun

Do2dtun

Media personality Do2dtun also expressed his anger after seeing a poll asking whether the woman involved should be forgiven. He wrote:

“I have a problem with the percentage of animals in the poll that picked ‘she should be forgiven’ Ogun ko kii una if you ever clicked that button.
You will not live to see the fruit of your labour.”

His reaction showed that the online debate was not limited to condemnation of the alleged abuse. There was also anger directed at people who appeared to support forgiveness for the woman.

Lizzy Gold

Actress Lizzy Gold also reacted in the comments section of a post about the case. She wrote:

“This woman doesn’t deserve to live ..she is a threat to kids”

Her comment reflected the extreme anger expressed by some members of the public over the allegations. Other reactions were shorter but equally emotional. Actress Angel Unigwe responded with a crying emoji, while Nkechi Blessing’s ex, Xxssive, questioned whether the woman could really have carried out the alleged act.

Lere Olayinka

Lere Olayinka

While most of the reactions focused on the alleged abuse and the woman involved, Lere Olayinka, an aide to ministry Nyesom Wike, took the conversation in another direction. He questioned the role of TikTok and called for the government to review how the platform is used in Nigeria. He wrote on X:

“A Social Media platform that allows anything, including that horrific video of a money using Di!do on a 7-year-old girl should not be allowed in any sane society.

Methinks use of TikTok in Nigeria should be reviewed by the govt.”

His reaction raised a broader question about how social media companies handle disturbing content involving children and whether stronger measures are needed to prevent such material from being created, distributed or monetised.

The Woman’s Reported Claims

As outrage grew online, different reports also emerged about what the arrested woman allegedly told investigators. Early reports said she claimed that the videos were generated using artificial intelligence (AI)
Another report quoted her as pleading for forgiveness and saying she had made only $300 from the activity.

What Happens Next?

For now, the focus is on the police investigation and the protection of the children. The Anambra State Police Command said Commissioner of Police CP Nnanna Oji Ama ordered a thorough and professional investigation into the case.

The command also said it would work with child-protection agencies and other relevant support organisations to provide the rescued children with care, counselling and other assistance.

It further assured that the children’s identities and privacy would be protected throughout the investigation and any subsequent legal process.

The case has already triggered strong reactions from celebrities and Nigerians online, but beyond the outrage, the central issue remains the welfare of the children involved.

As investigations continue, many of the questions raised by the celebrities, from parental responsibility and online exploitation to the role of social media platforms are likely to remain part of the conversation.
