Suspected phone thief and Point-of Sale terminal robber was set ablaze on Sunday, June 27 by angry mob along Ughelli Road by Glass House, Delta.

The suspect was said to have been shot by vigilantes after dispossessing his victim before and was later set ablaze.

Report has it that the suspect had snatched a phone and money from a POS terminal operator and tried to flee on a motorcycle before he was caught by vigilantes in the area.

In a related development, a suspected mobile handsets snatcher was arrested on Tuesday, June 29, after dispossessing his victims of valuables at a building housing Kabaka Printing Press in the Ekiugbo area of the metropolis.

According to witnesses, the suspect sneaked into one of his victims’ make-up store around 9.15am with a toy gun.

“We heard an unusual noise from one of the stores upstairs and we rushed to see what was happening, only to meet a man with a pistol rushing down.

“We heard the owner of the make-up store shouting ‘Ole! ole! ole!’ People started chasing the suspect, as he ran into St. Theresa’s Grammar School premises.

“He met his match when Ekiugbo vigilantes, who were on hand during the pandemonium, accosted and engaged him,” the source said.
