A Petroleum tanker reportedly went up in flames setting two vehicles ablaze on Thursday night at the Agodi gate area of Ibadan, a few metres away from Ibadan Zonal office of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

Sources disclosed that the tanker which was laden with Premium Motor Spirit fell and burst into fire.

It was gathered that some vehicles parked within the area caught fire when the tanker went up in flames.

Director of Operations, Oyo State Fire Services, Mr Ismail Adeleke, who confirmed the incident said that his men were able to quench the fire around 11.pm on Thursday.

Adeleke added that the vehicle lost control and fell, spilling its content on the road.

He explained that two cars were destroyed and that no life was lost during the incident.

“The fire started from the engine compartment of the tanker and the driver, having seen the burning fire, panicked and jumped out of the moving truck.

“The vehicle lost control and fell, spilling its content on the road and fire raged along the way. Two cars were destroyed but no life was lost in the inferno,” he said.
