Vigilante allegedly shoots man dead, label him robber in Delta community

A vigilante member man reportedly shot one Izoma Gadafe to death in Okpara Community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to DAILY POST, properties worth millions of naira have been set ablaze over the alleged murder of the man.

The incident reportedly caused serious tension in the area as family members and friends of the deceased vowed to avenge his death.

The deceased who is resident in Benin-City, Edo State was said to have visited for a marriage ceremony of one of their relatives in Okpara Inland community when he was accosted by the vigilante.

A heated argument ensued between him (the deceased) and the vigilante and in the process, he was allegedly shot dead.

His remains were quickly taken to the police station at Isiokolo Division where he was alleged to be an armed robbery suspect who has been terrorizing the Okpara Inland and it’s environs.

It was also gathered that the deceased was buried thereafter.

The deceased relatives said their son is innocent of the crime levelled against him by the vigilante as they demanded for his release.

Meanwhile, the police ordered that the deceased who has been buried, be exhumed and deposited in the morgue pending the outcome of their investigations.

Efforts to speak with the Chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Hon. Victor Ofobrukweta and the member representing Ethiope East in DTHA. Hon. Innocent Anidi were not successful.
