Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has attributed the decline in mass abductions, particularly of school children, to the ongoing implementation of the Safe School Initiative over the past seven to eight years.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, the governor highlighted the significant measures taken to enhance security in schools across the state.

Zulum emphasized that many schools in Borno are now fortified with sturdy fences and manned by security operatives. Additionally, he noted the collaborative efforts involving the military, civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), hunters, and vigilantes to safeguard educational institutions.

He stated, “Our Safe School Initiative has been instrumental in fortifying our schools, and we have deployed various security personnel to ensure their safety.”
