Adepeju Olukokun who is the CEO of Kokun foundation is popularly known for assisting the needy with food and basic needs through his NGO.
His depression story that broke out on social media and blogs recently appeared to have shock many but it can be traced back to an incident that happened towards the ending of last year (2017).
Yesterday was not the first time that the philanthropist disclosed his depression but that was the first time he revealed that he’s close to committing suicide.
His depression actually started last year after a ‘feud’ with Tonto Dikeh who was not only a supporter and member of his foundation but a very closed friend. The feud went beyond Kokun’s imagination and he received several heavy backlashes after Nigerians descended on his page to blast him for snitching on his friend Tonto Dikeh.
The Philanthropist who is usually loved by almost all Nigerians home and abroad had become a victim of lashing, all his cheerful giveaway was forgotten all of a sudden and he was called a ‘snitch’. This threw Kokun into regrets, unwanted mood and that was when he announced his first depression. See screen shot below showing his 2017 statement on depression.
How Kokun’s fight with Tonto Dikeh stated and what actually happened.
The issue began after Kokun posted a photo of one of his hunger heroes, a luxury boutique owner on his page, Tonto had reportedly sent a private message to Kokun declaring her hatred for the man in the photo even though they had never met.
In the chat which Kokun later forwarded to the man in question, Tonto had revealed that she wish she could get the boutique owner killed.
Tonto’s professed faith had subsequently been questioned while Kokun’s loyalty as a friend was questioned more.
A number of people believed Kokun could have tried to talk to Tonto about her unhealthy hatred rather than snitch on her despite their closeness and friendship!
“You are a snitch!” Kokun was blasted heavily.
The Philanthropist however seems to have regretted his action and according to him, he wish he could turn back the hands of time!

Kokun foundation is an NGO and a good portion of what is being given out as charity usually comes from people’s donation (Rich Residents, Celebrities, and other cheerful givers). It is possible the feud made a lot of people to lose trust in Kokun which is obvious in the above comments by his Fans, this might have resulted in declination of incoming donation to his Organization which is capable of breaking an NGO. It is also possible that this is the reason behind Kokun’s latest depression.

PS. It is confirmed that Kokun fell depressed in 2017 because a result of the feud with Tonto Dikeh. However, it is not confirmed that it is the reason behind his latest depression but based on the above analysis, it is capable of being the responsible.
