An Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court on Monday has remanded two young men, 18-year-old Micheal Adejoh and 20year-old Ilesanmi Ajayi in police custody for alleged rape.

Micheal Adejoh is standing trial for allegedly raping of a 16-year-old girl and Ilesanmi Ajayi is facing trial for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.

According to Punch reports, The magistrate, Mr Timothy Abe, ordered the defendants to be remanded in police custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that Ajayi defiled the seven-year-old girl at Ilogbo Ekiti in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state on July 6, adding that the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

According to Akinwale, the seven-year-old girl was sent on an errand and while on her way, the accused allegedly dragged her to a corner and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable the police duplicate the case file and forward it to the office of the DPP for legal advice.

The magistrate adjourned the case till August 2 for mention.

In the other case, the police prosecutor told the court that Adejoh allegedly raped the 16-year-old girl at Ise Ekiti on July 7, adding that the offence contravened Section 31 of Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The 16-year-old girl, according to him, went to see her friend, who is also a friend to Adejoh, but when she got there, her friend was not around but she met Adejoh.

According to him, Adejoh gave the victim baked biscuit that was laced with India hemp mixed with a chocolate beverage, which she ate and slept off, while the suspect allegedly raped her.

Akinwale urged the court for an adjournment to enable the police duplicate the case file and forward it to the office of the DPP for legal advice.
