DMW boss Davido is once again among the high riders as usual in the industry as his song Fall ranks 163rd position on Pitchfork’s list of top 200 Best Songs of The 2010s.

Fall which was produced by Kiddominant and released on June 2, 2017, also became one of the top 100 most Shazam’d singles in America on January 2019, as listed by Rolling Stone magazine and was among the top 10 records on Shazam in New York. In February 2019, it was also named as the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.

According to Pitchfork, an American online magazine launched based in Chicago which had developed a reputation for its extensive focus on independent music, every line Davido uttered in the song was with both mesmerizing cockiness and vulnerability. The magazine further described the song as an international anthem which widens the influence of Nigeria’s music on Western culture. Pitchfork wrote, “Prior to 2017, Nigerian Afropop singer Davido had already established himself as one of Africa’s premier artists, but “Fall” turned him into a star the world over. Who can blame everyone for falling in love with the song’s soft melody and Davido’s tricky charisma?

Every line is uttered with both mesmerizing cockiness and vulnerability. “I don’t wanna be a player no more,” he pleads, raising his pitch. In the back half of the 2010s, Afropop exploded in popularity, with countless artists attempting to hop on the trend. “Fall” was instrumental in continuing to widen the influence of Nigeria’s music on Western culture, becoming an international anthem along the way. –Alphonse Pierre.”
