Barely 12 hour after fire razed the popular Oyo market in the ancient town of Akesan, angry mob have reportedly stormed the office of the fire service few metres away from the market in protest of the fire incident.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that tragedy struck in Oyo community as fire razed Akesan Market, the town’s main commercial centre in the early hours of Sunday, January 5th.

As at the time of reportage, the cause of the fire outbreak is yet unknown but eyewitness reports revealed that it started around 1:00am.

According to reports, the people became angry when they were told by an official on duty that there was no water in their fire truck which means they could not do anything tp quench the fire.

The failure of the fire service few metres away from the fire incident to quench the fire angered the mob and the truck and other properties at the Fire station were allegedly set on fire in protest.

As of the time of filing this report, fire fighters from Ibadan, the state capital, had arrived at the scene with a backup from Ogbomoso to battle the inferno.
