Nigerians romanticize poverty and do ‘suffering competition’ as if they give medals for it, Femi Jacobs says

Femi Jacobs, Nigerian actor and son to Nollywood legend, Olu Jacobs has blasted Nigerians for often engaging in what he termed ‘suffering competition’. The actor who appeared to have gotten tired of the constant remarks by Nigerians glorifying poverty, took to social media to air his mind.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, he noted how Nigerians are always so quick to compare poor, unprivileged status as if there will be a medal for it.

He tweeted:

“Trust Nigerians to be doing suffering competition. “Ah, your own is good. Me, ehn, I didn’t have a dime!” Romanticizing poverty like they give medals for it.” See his post:
