The fight against Covid-19 in Nigeria has not come without its drama and desperacy especially the complications that come with test results which have left few patients of the deadly virus frustrated and confused.

This was evident in a video obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA where a few patients in Asokoro General Hospital Treatment Centre were seen agitating for their test results and also requesting the authorities that they should be allowed to return home.

Inside the video, two patients can be seen narrating how they were taken into custody by officials of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. The first patient recounted how NCDC officials took her sample in her community and later came to pick her up three days after and isolated her.

A patient identified as Mnwese Precious was brought in for isolation three weeks ago (on the 23rd of April) after she showed symptoms of Covid-19. Accroding to her, she has undertaken two separate tests but none has come back to confirm her status.

“These people are not giving us our results. I don’t know what is the problem”, Precious lamented.

Another patient who appears frustrated and confused also revealed that she has been tested about two or three times without getting any of the results.

Precious said she was tired of being kept in the isolation centre; asking authorities to allow her go back home.

“I have no headache, no catarrh. I do not know why these people are keeping us here and I have a one year and six months old baby. I need to go back to my work, I want to go back to my work”, she appealed.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has admitted that testing has been a major challenge in the country.
