A Caterer popularly known as Ayo Chef, has openly come out as a Gay in Nigeria, where same sex conduct is banned with brutal homophobic persecution.

Ayo who has been hiding his sexuality recently decided to unveil himself gradually in series of posts on Instagram, in one of his posts the Chef wrote;

I’m boldly coming out as🌈🌈
I remove from that shell of afraid
The umbrella🌂🌂stand for queer

Lamenting about the rejection he has experienced as a gay, in one of his post he said;

No matter how you are rejected💆💆💆
Either family members,relation or friends
Regardless of your sexual orientation

On Monday (Jan. 13, 2014), President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act, which parliament passed in May. The law follows a similar one passed in Uganda in December, which imposes life imprisonment for some types of homosexual acts.

Across Africa, homosexuality is often viewed as a violation of cultural and religious values. Gay sex is outlawed in 38 African countries, according to the International Lesbian, Gay, Trans and Intersex Association. In 13 African countries, homosexuality is legal or there are no laws banning it.

In Mauritania, Sudan and northern Nigeria, homosexuality is punishable by death. Offenders can receive life imprisonment in Uganda, Tanzania and Sierra Leone.
