Nigeria records 624 new COVID-19 cases, total now 41,804

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday night, recorded 1,664 new infections of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.

The NCDC confirmed this on its verified Twitter account.

Five deaths were also recorded in Nigeria.

The figure was the highest ever recorded in one day since the virus was first reported in the country.

The latest figure surpassed the 1,354 cases recorded across the country on Tuesday, confirming that Nigeria is experiencing a second wave of coronavirus.

The NCDC stated that the new infections bring the country’s total to 94,369.

The new cases were recorded from 22 States, including the Federal Capital Territory.
