President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, October 21, nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as a new minister from Plateau State.

Doro, the UK-based clinical expert, replaced Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction who was appointed as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that Yilwatda was appointed by President Tinubu as a minister after the then Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, was suspended due to alleged money laundering.

However, President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Bernard Doro to the Senate for confirmation as a minister representing Plateau State.

In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Wednesday’s plenary, President Tinubu said the nomination was made in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The president urged the Senate to give the request “expeditious consideration.”
